My ripped white jeans

If you live in the United States, then you have probably heard about the “no white before Memorial day rule”. To be honest, I had never heard of this rule prior to moving to the States. Its always hot in Ghana so wearing white is never a bad idea. Rule or not, I feel like rules are meant to be broken so you can catch me wearing white year round. But it is memorial day this weekend so this post seems fitting. Please tell me how May is almost over already?!?

I came across these fabulous white ripped jeans from Topshop last month. These jeans have a stretchy fabric which makes them super comfortable and flattering on any body shape. They were too cool to sit in my closet until it got warm so I’ve been basically living in them since April. Definitely a versatile addition to any wardrobe. This time last year, I would have paired them with a tank top and light blazer. But alas, New York is having a seasonal identity crisis. So being that its basically either Summer or Winter depending on the day, light sweater and trench coat it was.

I feel like clothing color doesn’t necessarily have to match. But it does have to “go together”.Blue and yellow always pair well because colors opposite each other on the color wheel tend to look good together.  If you are doing solid colors like I am with my sweater and shoes, you can always pair the outfit with an accessory that has both colors in it such as my Ankara clutch purse. And if you are wondering what Ankara is, (read my Ankara 101 post here) .

Pictures taken by the crazy-talented @lcowart while I pretended to be a TV star. 🙂

Stay colorful my friends.
