The experience was seamless:
- I picked my style from a catalog in store while I sipped on a “beverage” provided by the store.
- They took my measurements ( the most detailed measurements I’ve ever gotten! )
- They came to our hotel for a fitting several hours later.
- Within two weeks, I received my custom three piece suit in the mail along with custom dress shirts (big chest problems). 😀
During my fitting, the tailor informed me that Bangkok is trying hard to make itself the fashion capital of Asia. He told me that prices at the high end suit stores in the malls closely matched that in New York; a trait preferred trait by locals. From the traffic in his store, he had come to the conclusion that foreigners preferred that same quality, for a fraction of the cost. In New York, the pampering of a tailor would cost me upwards of $ 5000. I don’t think most people spend that on a suit unless they are millionaires. And yet here I was, getting fitted for custom suit for less than 500! Lucky me. Of course, this could have simply been a salesman pitch, but the suit fits me like a glove so Happy Dinah doesn’t care! If you want to see more reviews from other Bangkok travelers you can read them on Trip Advisor here.It has been a bit of a sprint since I got back from vacation trying to catch up to work and life so I’m thankful for the time to finally tell you about my experience.
If you are ever in Bangkok, you have to check out Royal Boss. Especially if you have a week there. In three days you can have several fittings and truly have something you can use for years. I am SO glad I had the pleasure of running into that man at the ferry!OUTFIT DETAILS: Suit and shirt from Royal Boss // Shoes Nine West (similar here) // Bag from Myth House
