Are you team color or team neutral when it comes to your outfits⁉️ I’m pretty sure it’s obvious which side of the spectrum I’m on 😁🤷🏾♀️. My favorite way to add color to my clothing is with accessories! Don’t underestimate the power of accessories, you can be all out with the shoes, bags, belts and hats. Or subtle with one accessory like the glasses I’m wearing. I don’t believe your clothing has to “match” but I go for pieces that “go together” even if they are exact opposites—kind of like my husband and I.

But how exactly do you accessorize an outfit “correctly”? Let me start by saying that there is no RIGHT way to put your clothing together. Sure there are widely accepted conventions about how one should dress but I think fashion is much like décor, it really should be about personal taste.
I wear A LOT of colorful clothing so I will typically pick a color from the pattern and accessorize with it. If I want to be less bold (lol, as if there is such a thing when you are wearing a Farm Rio dress), I’ll pick nude accessories and gold jewelry to finish off my look. Chunky brass jewelry is a little less understated. If I was heading to something more conservative, I would have switched the jewelry for something more dainty. And the bag would also be nude.
“Start with what you like and go from there”
“At the end of the day, your outfit should be unapologetically you“
“I think fashion is much like décor, it really should be about PERSONAL taste”
If you are less adventurous, just choose colors in the same family. To bring in the texture, I paired my sweat suit with these cow skin boots to bring some visual interest to the look.
The point of all of this is to outline the importance of accessories. Everything from your reading glasses to your rings are important when you put your outfit together. Some people actually start with their accessories and choose their outfits based on those colors. It works both ways. The major take away is that you should have FUN with it!
