Why I Recommend Personal Shopping

I discovered personal shopping at TopShop quite by accident. I had walked into the store in Soho’s shopping district with one thing in mind -I wanted a pair of jeans. About 30 minutes later, I found myself stumbling across the store with a pile of clothing trying to find a fitting room to try them on. A store attend came over and suggested I go up to the third floor. “What’s on the third floor?”, I asked. ” it’s what you need. Trust me”. Now I do not walk around trusting people for no reason, but he seemed determined so I went along. As it turns out, he had sent me up to my first personal shopping experience.

The people on the third floor quickly made an appointment for me and I next thing I knew,  I was being ushered into a large fitting room and asked what I wanted to drink. My attendant, Ashley, was introduced to me and after gathering information on what I was looking for and my size, she returned with a curated collection of tall jeans, shoes,  tops and outerwear. Needless to say, I was in shoppers Heaven.Prior to this, I imagined personal shopping to be something reserved for the rich at high end department stores. It’s definitely not: It is completely free to make an appointment and you are under no obligation to buy anything.

Here is how it typically works. It’s super easy;
1. You call and make an appointment giving details of what you are looking for.
2. You arrive for your appointment with a lineup of clothing and accessories waiting for you to try
3. You have a personal attendant waiting on you the whole time to bring proper sizing, zipping you up etc. (Basically like shopping with your friend)
4. You make your selections, pay for them and you are on your way.

Since then, I have made a few more appointments. I find that it takes the stress out of shopping, you have a knowledgeable person catering to your needs, you can feel like a princess for a day and you walk out with exactly what you need. Needless to say, I highly recommend it! You can read more about this service offered by TopShop in select stores here. I would love to know if you have had any experience with personal shopping and what you thought.
